Is fuel pump going?
For about the last year and a half my fuel pump has been turning on once every couple hours for about 5 seconds. It makes an embarissing sound like brrrrrrrr... It hasn't affect the way it runs until now it has recently began chugging and bogging down. Haven't tested the fuel pressure yet but does this sound like a fuel pump on the fritz?
If this is happening while the car is sitting without the engine running, it may not be the fuel pump. There is a tank pressure control / rollover surge valve above the level of the tank that may be venting air as the tank warms and cools during the day. RB had a very apt desription of the noise in one of his comments, something reminiscent of an old Mel Brooks movie.
If the pump is making he noise while running, it may or may not indicate anything. I has a pump that made wicked noise in a daily driver for about four years, and it never failed. It's when they get really quiet that you need to worry.

Vader,
Hi!! what is the proper fuel pressure for a stock 92 L98 engine at idle ?? I had a "injector purge" done at my dealer and the fuel press was at 32 psi at idle is this right ?? I thought it was over 40 psi ?? Any one ???? ........GTA......

The specification I've seen is 37 PSIG, ±3 PSIG at idle. With KOEO or the vacuum line removed from the regulator, the pressure should be 44 PSIG ±3. Given the 3 pound tolerance and the possible calibration of any given test gauge, your pressure may be acceptable, or it may be a little low. I'd check it with a second gauge before getting all excited about changing the regulator.
