I have 88 firebird formula with 305 tpi and there are days when I go to start it up, it will turnover and fire and then die. Then I will have to powerbrake it like when I cruise so the thing wont die. Does anyone know what this is? I have heard it was the mass air flow sensor. But the check engine light doesnt come on until it dies. So please help me.

 

take a paper clip and stick into the top two right holes on the ecu plug thats by your right knee. it may give you a code that can tell you where to look. oh when you do this turn the car to the on pisition dont start the car though. the service engine light will flash 12 three times like morse code( blink short pause blink blink short pause) it will do this three times if a code is saved then it will flash differently after the third 12 when it is done it will flash 12 again. you will need a chart to tell you what codes mean what. just ask on this board. Vader sent me mine maybe he can hook you up or someone else deffinetly can.

my friends v6 camaro did this it was the wires leading into the plug that plugs upto the maf they were lose. so try them if the ecu says maf is the problem.TINFY
