Flex Fan Help

I just put in a Flex-A-Lite Flex fan in replace of the stock clutch fan. Do these things typically make for noice? It seems quite a bit louder when I rev the motor up. Any input would be great.

I have one on my Wrangler (350 TBI'd) Very loud, like turgine engine, right? Totally normal, just the sound of the fan "working". You must be at high rpm on the highway with your combos. You shouldn't need that fan unless you have a cooling problem, which you may have had. They work well but almost too well and suck some power/mileage, the higher the rpm, the louder the noise, the more power reduction but the more air it will pull. The bad thing is, when on the highway, don't really need any fan, that's why clutch fans are ok.

Know what I would do: Put in nice TH700r with 5:13 gears... Will be like 3.55 gears w/TH350 and actually lower highway rpm with those gears. 66 percent more first gear torque, too!!!
(5.13/3.73*3.06/2.52) = 1.66
new ratio/old ratio*TH700 1st/TH350 1st!!!!

Buck,
They are loud - in fact, they're loud enough to hear over a 327 with cam and big tube headers pushing exhaust thru twin Flowmasters.
But.....the booger does work.

Just a word of caution on flex fans. After many years using a Flex-a-lite on my 4x4 blazer 400sbc to keep it cool when of roading in low range (low vehicle speed, higher rpms - which causes clutch fans to dis-engage= higher heat), I had one of the stainless steel blades fatigue and snap off. It crunched a brand new radiater.

Check them periodically for signs of cracking, looseness around the rivets, and also watch for signs of a rusty residue coming from the blade to steel frame area where the rivets attach the blades. This can be signs of some future problems.

Things are looking and going good now, loud but I'll just have to turn the stereo up. That thing does work pretty good. I think I'll keep it for a while. Maybe some day I'll put and electric fan on to save the horses but I think I need to find the short that is draning my battery dead overnight first. It is always something!
