How hard is a chassis dyno on your drivetrain??

I plan on getting my car dyno tuned on a chassis dyno within the next couple of weeks. I was just wondering if this is going to be hell on my drivetrain or not. I've got the motor and the rearend to handle it...but not so sure about the trans. It's a stock 700R4 with a 2600 RPM stall converter, TransGo shift kit, external cooler, and fully synthetic fluid. Thanks.

it's not gonna be any harder than driving it hard on the street or at the track would be.

Cant wait to see some numbers on your setup, mine is similiar, but i use trick flow 195's as opposed to the afrs and i have a demon 750...good luck to ya

Thanks. I'm getting my rearend Monday, and I have to weld on the lower control arm relocation brackets. I should have all that done by the middle of next week, and I'll take it to the track to get an initial run. Probably the week after I will take it to get dyno tuned, and I'll share the graph and numbers with you. Then I'm going to take it to the track again and see how I do. What cam and intake are you running? Thanks again.

Ah I just read your profile and found out your cam and intake. The only difference in our cams is the lift. You have .487/.490, and I have .510/.520. Any idea what kind of difference there would be there? Thanks again.

I've had both of those cams (XE274H & XR282HR) in the same motor. I can tell you, the roller is a whoile lot more cam; the lift & duration numbers alone do not do it justice.

Thanks for the replies. You guys think my combo is pretty well matched up?? I also have the AFR hydra-rev kit. zupmanZ28, what size jets are you running in the primaries and secondaries? I have 72 up front and 80 in the back. Does this sound right? Thanks.

The only issue with your trans on a chassis dyno is temperature.
Be sure to run a big fan infront of the car to ensure lots of air flow through the rad and trans cooler.

After a run , let the car idle on the dyno while running the
big fan infront of the car. This will cool the trans. If you have a trans temp guage, all the better.
