My compressor's shot. I pressurized the system after I found out it was empty to find any leaks there might be. I heard a leak coming from the compressor, very small but there nonetheless. I can't hear any other leaks in the system. I'd like to spend as little as possible here, and would like to know if any of you have remanufactured compressors? Some of the mechs around here say they can be bad news, but I thought I'd throw it out here and see. Someone said I should check the junkyards for a compressor. That doens't sound like a good bet to me, but what do you all think? Any input appreciated!

 

Do you have to have A/C? If not hit up an A/C delete pully ( i used to have the part number for it from gmpartsdirect.com, but that hard drive killed itself). Its $40 and uses the same belt. Then if you decide you want a/c you can save up and get a new compressor and fix the rest of the system when you have the money. I would not suggest a junkyard unit or a reman unit. Its just not a great idea.
