EGR/code 32 question
On my 87' TPI setup I get the SES light to come on sometimes right on start up then after maybe a half minute the light goes away. I have codes 32 and 42 stored, 42 I think is stored because the car was started once with the timing connected disconnected. The vacuum lines are fine for the EGR valve, but was wondering what could the cause be of the light coming on right away then going away, to never come back when warm. I figured Id ask before I buy a new EGR valve to see if there might be any other answers.
Montes,
Check teh connections at teh EGR diagnostic temperature switch, EGR solenoid, and measure the resistance of the solenoid. The immediate EGR error is usually a sign of a wiring or input/load device problem, not an EGR valve function problem. The EGR solenoid should have at least 85-150 ohms resistance.
