Approx. cost of building a 383

I have a ~70s 350 block I got for free. How much would the approx cost of all the materials and machine work to make a 350 a 383 stroker?

Just a estimate. Cost break down would be killer

$1800 for the 383 kit with forged internals
$600 for machine work (might be more or less)
Then the misc parts like oil pump, timing set, cam, lifters, etc....
$3500 to $6000 for a complete 383 engine.

Axle/Gears: 2.73 - boo racing yay MPG
189 for a scat crank
208 for some hyper pistons
120 for a rering kit

so 517 + shipping and machining.

less if you feel like getting a 400 crank cut down and using short rods.

It only cost me $200 more for machine work over the price of just getting it rebuilt. The parts cost the same for a 350 or 383.I dont know why more people dont get their motor stroked when the blow them.

It all depends on how strong you want it to be and if you want all of the other parts to make it worthwhile (ie headers, intake, heads, etc...).

Mine is nearing completion and it is up in the $5000 range. But I will be able to recoup some of the money on my old parts off my 355 so I might get by closer to $4000 when all is said and done.

I did mine so I don't have to do it again - like ever (I hope ). As in, all forged, billet splayed mains, ZZX, all new valvetrain stuff, HydraRev, Miniram, 1 3/4" SLPs (well, these may go eventually), headwork, etc. Depending on the shop, machine work to fit splayed caps and do the line boring and honing is another $4-500 so that is a big decision to make with the cost of the caps also considered.

Do some research on parts before you buy anything though... I found a place through Ebay that sells Eagle stuff at very good prices. I got:

Ross two-relief flat tops (for 6" rod)
4340 6" Eagle H-beam rods
4340 Eagle Crank
Clevite 'H' Rod bearings
Eagle billet splayed caps

- all for $1375 shipped to my door. I passed on main bearings as I wasn't sure which ones I will need after the new caps are fitted and whatnot.

Deals are out there, ya just gotta find em .
