power steering leak, need help fast
power steering leak, need help fast
hey guys
i own an 82 camaro, with the 88 5.7L 350 in it.
i had a power steering leak earlier in the fall, and it seemed to go away with an addative
now the leak is back and it's pretty bad, only happens when i turn sharply though, pressure seems to really shoot out fluid
it seems to be leaking from the steering box,
i know it's not the pump
anyways, how can i fix this leak, hopefully without anything too too major

the same thing happened to mine but it was spraying at high pressure whenever the engine was running. The high pressure hose had a hole in it and replacement of the hose fixed the problem. Try that before anything drastic.
problem diagnosed
alright heree's the problem
the seal that is between the pitman shaft and the box hosing has started to sagg, and is visible now
i know i have to get it replaced
i don't have the tools or enough knowledge about the steering box to replace the seals myself
here's what i am thinking on doing
either buying the seals from napa or something nice and cheap if possible
take the car and the seals over to a garage and ask them to replace it right away
no diagnosing on my bill that way
any ideas how long you guys think that would take?
