How far in should the Pilot Bearing be?
i am installing my new flywheel and pilot bearing and i am wondering how far in it should go before stopping. All the way in? Most of the way in? What is the proper method of installation? What about removal....that doesnt look like fun.
Thanks,
Rick

I just took a socket about the same diameter as the pilot bearing and lightly tapped it in with a mallet until it seated. I think there's a shoulder inside that won't really let you drive it too far in.
I'm sure someone has the text book answer here somewhere.

BTW...I used to be stationed when in the service at both San Diego and Long Beach. Traffic sucked, but I miss the weather!!! :hail:

Yep. All the way in.
Removal? Simple. Put quite a bit of grease inside the bush (grease gun?), find an input shaft (or metal rod of similar diameter) and insert it into the bush and hit it with a hammer. The grease will push the bush out.
Andy.
