400 bucks, what mod to do?

I have a pair of hedman headers in my room, but I am not gonna attempt them so I would have to pay someone to put them on. I have a shift kit and jet stage 2 chip, along with accel wires and cap, 160 stat, flowmaster, and k&N. My question is should I get some 3.73 gears and have them installed, or save and put a 75 HP shot of nos? Or should I have my headers installed? My flowmaster muffler could be replaced by a cat back exhaust and that would probably help a little too. My pipes are rusting underneath pretty bad. I really want some hooker aerochamber's. What would yall spend the money on in my position?

Bright red 87 GTA with 350 tuneport. Basic mods such as K&N filter, Flowmasters, Wells MAF, TPIS air foil, Accel 8.8mm plug wires with Bosch platinum plugs, Accel distributor cap and rotary buttons.Gutted cat. Hope to port runners and plenum in about 2 weeks.

why cant u put on the headers? labor charges are terrible where i live, sumthin like 80 bucks an hour. in my opinion, do the install yourself, cuz then you have no one to blame but yourself. but you may be a really busy person, in that case, you might want to have them installed by a "quality shop". but id do the headers before anything else.

Hmm.. I've been thinking about getting headers... But they look bad to put on.. Do you have to lift the engine? Or can you shoehorn them on from underneath? I assume I'd need a real lift, and not just a jack with stands or a ramp for this.......

tesla042,

The header install is not that bad. You do not need to lift the engine or the car you can use jack stands that is what my friend and I did on his car. The driver side is not that bad to put in but the passenger side is a ***** to do. You will need a good weekend if you have little engine experience. But it does make a noticable difference.

An 87 GTA with a 350 L98 probably has the 9-bolt rear end, which means 3.70 gears will cost $500 or more. I'd find a place to put your headers in, that'll give you a nice gain. Or get an intake manifold, like Edelbrock TPI.
