What to look for in USED block??

Well, the verdict is that the wristpin on the piston cam loose and not only caused the piston to shatter and the rod to snap but managed to crack the block. I 'could' sleeve the cylinder but I am looking at making about 700hp with the blower when I'm done so that's not an option. GM doesn't sell a bare LT-1 block and neither does any company I can find.

SO - I have to go look at used LT-1 blocks now. I've never shopped for a used block before so what are some things I should look at before I decide on which one? I'll probably be going up later this week to choose one and don't want to spend the cash only to find out there's something wrong with it. I know that some things won't show up until I hand it over to the machine shop but what can I look for or try to avoid before I pop down some cash for it?

not sure of the specs but i'd look at the bow tie blocks. for a used block you should be getting everything machined any way so cracks and spun bearings would be my only worry.

A warranty. See if the place will cover it if it deos end up with a crack some where. At the min with another block at no charge.
