oil pressure gone crazy!

hey guys iam new here so go easy!, my oil pressure is iradic whene iam on the highway it sometimes pulls past the 60 mark and the needle flutters ans sometimes whene iam at idle it goes to about 18 mark this happens more often when i have the air conditoner on but it can also happen when i dont. This also doesnt happen all the time but its getting more often.

Wrong forum, but mine does this as well. It is most likely the sending unit that is shot. If these engines were actually running up and down that quickly you would have some serious problems.

oil preasure is rpm dependent and also changes as the oil heats up. 10 psi per 1000 rpm is acceptable. as already said you may have a problem with the sender or the factory gauge ,neither are known for great accuracey or reliability.

mine does this too although it never has gone past 30 psi. it drops more during long periods in traffic. what are the signs that your oil pump is failing? does it just go or does it waver like this?
