How do I tell if I have the HO Carb?

We have an 86 Iroc 5-Speed with a 305 engine. The vehicle is badged as having a 5.0 Liter High Output Engine, but the VIN and RPO do not indicate the HO option. Is there an easy way to tell just by looking at the engine if it is really the HO engine 305 or the standard 305.

Thanks.

the vin and rpo ought to be a pretty good clue that you don't have the ho option.

Sounds like somebody found a HO car in the boneyard and robbed the badges.

Badges are usually cheaper than parts.

One quick way to tell is by looking at the exhaust.... if the outlet of the manifolds is 2¼", it has the HO manifolds. It they're 2", they're the LG4 manifolds.
