These T5 Manuals Trmsns - Safety Clutch or what?
I went to the gym today, and I went back and my car would not start period. It was very annoying. The battery was fulling charged, as my lights and stereo would play fine. Anyway, at this point I was very stumped. The car would just not come alive and turn over.
So I waited 5 minutes and tried again. The thing fired right up? Bear in mind its is 91 RS camaro 5Sp with T5. I guess my main question is this:
Is the reason I have to push the clutch in EVERY time to start the car for safety reasons? Most cars Ive not heard of this. But is it possible I was not activating something in the ignition or starter that was disallowing me to start the car?
Any input would be helpful, so I know what the hells up when my car randomly won't start again.
Thanks fellas, Eric

Most or all newer cars and trucks have the safety interlock for the clutch, look under the dash at the pedal and you will see the little switch there, check to see that it moves out freely when you push in the pedal. I'm not saying that's your problem, it could be lots of things that would cause it not to start, even a bad battery connection or ground, just because the lights and the radio will work doesn't mean the starter will get enough juice to work.

mine would do that once and a while, i lifted my foot off the clutch a bit while starting and it would catch, i just unplugged the connector and jumpered the yellow and purple wires and it starts every time, but if someone else goes to start your car, they may start it while its in gear, i take the jumper wire out everytime
