LO3 Cold Stalling
LO3 Cold Stalling
I recently bought a vehicle with the LO3 (305 TBI) motor. It runs great and is very smooth when warmed up. However, when the engine is cold and I am at low speeds, say, using the steering and brakes, the thing has a tendency to stall.
It has a relatively new distributor, plugs, etc. The only thing not replaced was the plug wires from a routine maintenance standpoint.
Any ideas where I should start to look?

So it seems to run well in closed loop mode, but not when warming up. Have you checked fuel pressure? I had a similar situation with a TBI that preved to be low pressure. The ECM could compenseate somewhat when in closed loop, but lookup tables for open loop were way off and resulted in operation as you described.
Exactly.
As far as compensation in closed loop is concerned, would this rob a little power to make up for the lack of fuel? The vehicle seems a little weak, but I've only had it for seven days...
