Why us?

I've spent a lot of time on Mustang boards and third gen boards alike(gotta know the enemy)
My question is why do we almost always have to get a custom chip to go fast and maximize our combos when a mustang can put trick flow heads a huge ford racing cam intake and traction and go low 12's without touching the computer, While we can't do a whole lot without needing a custom chip? Both Mass air systems both the same basic mods heads, cam, intake, etc.but we need a custom chip.
Is a ford computer more forgiving or do they need them as well just don't do it?
I'm sick of looking at an expensive custom chip to get my times down when the other guys hardly ever get one.
Please some one explain this or calm me down or something before I switch to a carb.

Quite honestly, the ford computer is better, at least the programming. It also has a MAP sensor in addition to the MAF(which is a better unit as well), so it is getting more information than ours as well.

One thing I will say is dont underestimate your stock computer, its really not that bad. With an AFPR and some base timing adjustment, you can get quite a bit out of it without going to a custom chip.

Also with the Ford MAFs, the aftermarket is better. You can get bigger MAFs calibrated for different size injectors. We are stuck with gutting a stock MAF and that's it.

Plus Mustangs always have the weight advantage so they can go quicker without doing a ton of engine mods which means less computer tuning.
