Help rusted on!

The rotor is rusted on the distributor, got it off a pain in the A** how do I stop it from happening again. Buy the way when I pushed the new Accel rotor on it split up the back side whats up with that?

You'll have to get the rust off the distributor shaft. The extra diameter of the shaft fro the rust buildup is probably what caused the new rotor to split.

Try a low abrasive method to remove the rust, like a ScotchBrite pad. Cover the pickup coil and reluctor as best you can before starting. a plastic bag and masking tape should keep most ot the rust out of the distributor. Scour away all of the rust you can, then try another rotor. Once the distributor shaft is clean you shouldn't have any more problems with rotor fitment.

When you install the next new rotor, rub a small amount of dielectric silicone grease on the shaft to stop it from rusting any further.
