new locks?
new locks?
Well, it looks like i've gone and done it. A rash of car key thefts have been going around (and car thefts at that) my school. My keys are among the MIA's. My drivers side door lock only spun anyway, so i figure it mayb e time for new locks. How hard is it to put in a new locking mechanism? I will need a new ignition key dealie as well. How much would this cost? Is there a way of making a spare key without a good key to begin with? I have an 83 LU5 camaro. Any help would be delightful.

Since your keys are gone anyway, best bet is new lock sets...not REAL cheap, but not that expensive either.
Dealer will rekey new locks for you, so you can have same key for doors and hatch.
Door locks and hatch are very easy to install...no more than a couple of hours for all of them, the ignition key is a bit more difficult...I think you'll have to pull the steering wheel on your car.
