what to look for in a good pair of heads?

I have a 1986 350 block that came out of a suburban in my camaro now. I want to upgrade the heads, but do not know what to look for in what I want, I was told by a mechanic that I probabbly don't want to put something extreemly good on top of the block since the block has not ben rebuilt, but something moderate could work well.

Is there any sites that anyone knows about that explain all this that I can read up on?

It's prefrence mostly. The heads wont kill an old engine. I personally would try local machine shops to see if anyone is parting with thier old performance heads at a reasonable price. That's where I get my heads, except these Dart POS's took a dent there. Just look for the best heads in your budget, you can always build an engine around the heads since they are an investment.

As far as websites. Most of them are biased.

Also 416's are a nice upgrade and thier dirt cheap but Id call and see what you can find.

With its preference Should I just take off my 350 head I have currently and modify those or just look for a nice pair around here?
