Is it ok to leave this part out....
I put in an alternator and is it ok to leave out the black piece that guides the bottom bolt to the engine block?

no, it needs that, or you can never tighten the bolt enough to not loosen.. and what would hold the alternator on the front of the bolt?
unless im thinking of a diffrent part then you are.

no, it is not okay. while it's a pain in the *** to get that bolt to line up at times, it's necessary.
