HELP....What did I do?

Yesterday, while driving home I ran a stang on the highway that came along side of me. Later when I got off the highway I heard a knocking sound. Currently I don't hear it at idle but as the rpms increase it starts knocking faster and sounds like it's coming from the drivers side near the head. Any ideas on what I did to the motor??? If I rev it I don't really hear it but if I hold the rpms steady say at 2,000 it's pretty loud and goes up with the rpm!!

sorry, didn't know what other topic/thread to put this under!!

Tech/General Engine.

But, anyway, if this is a true "knock", and it sorta sounds like it is, you wiped out a bearing or two. Cheap or used-up oil, and/or a weak oil pump, will do that to you.

I agree. A toasted bearing or wrist pin. You can have an oil analysis done if you want to know for sure.

Hate to say it, but I agree as well.

Transferring to Tech/General to see if you hear more bad news...

Disconnect one spark plug wire at a time while reving the motor to make the noise. If it then goes away when one plug wire is disconnected it is a bottom end problem ( rod bearing, wrist pin, cracked piston) if it is still there it could be valve train, (rocker arm , broken valve spring, collapsed lifter, wiped cam lobe.)

At best, it could be an exhaust leak.
