Fuel system help...please!!!!

I am changing out my 85 TPI 305.... I am replacing it
with a 383 carberated.... My prob is what to do about the
fuel delivery system.... I was told that my stock TPI fuel
pump will be too much psi for the carb even with my
AFPR.... Then I was told that I could poss go with a TBI
fuel pump and use the reg with no prob of to much psi....
How ever the person who told me about this idea was not
sure if the stock TBI fuel pump would have enough delivery
for 500hp..... Then my last option is going with a after
market fuel pump.... But I was told that these pump were
designed to push fuel not suck.... So then I found out that
to get the best results from a after market pump I would
have to have a sump installed in my tank.... any way that is
my dilemma..... HELP!!!!
My setup is a 383 w/ a Edelbrock RPM Performer intake
/ 4150-HP carb / Mallory 5 port AFPR and if needed for
your help I am going to run a 700R-4.... I am est to get
aprox 500hp out of my setup w AFR 195cc heads.....
In advance Thank You to any and all for all your help.....

Buy a high-flow 3-port fuel pressure regulator (about $75) from Summit/Jegs or your local speed shop. They will tell you how to hook it up and adjust it.

I've heard this related a few times: Someone's in-tank fuel pump will die. Instead of dropping down the whole tank, and buying a replacement pump, they buy a fancy in-line fuel pump. Supposedly the in-line pump is able to suck fuel past the unhooked in-tank pump.

SO, maybe you can just unplug the electrics from your stock pump, and hook up a pump designed for your application in the usual way.

Also, isn't high pressure not equal to high-flow? The TPI pump might not flow enough for a carb'd car; but hey I'm definately not sure on this- someone correct me!!
