Non-Aligning Rockers on 91Z
Non-Aligning Rockers on 91Z
I have posted several messages about my 91 acting a fool. It will idle bad and miss and puke. I bought a new set of injectors for it and started putting them on yesterday. I pulled the valvecovers to get the runners off. The 1.6 rockers that I put on some of them came loose. I never heard them rattle. After buying these about four years ago, I realized that I need self-aligning ones. I want to know if there is any way to put on pushrod guide plates on and keep the rockers? I do not see any damage to the valve stems or rollers on the rockers. Do yall think that my nightmare can be resolved with this problem? My wife's 94 has been putting the spanking on me. I need some payback! Thanks, Brandon

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but...
You need to pull the heads to put on guide plates, because there's machine work involved. The stud bosses need to be milled flat, and the holes have to be drilled & tapped.
Your best bet for the cheapest right now is to get the right rockers. Comp 1418s are a little less than $200 a set, that's the way to go IMHO.
