help
I have a 87 Camaro with the 305 LG4 (carb). whenever it gets 80 degrees or hotter outside my car dies on me. I'll be driving and it will sputter and I would back off the gas pedel and it would stop sputtering and I would get in to it slowly and it would sputter and die. I think it is not venting in the tank so I have been running it with out the gas cap it worked for a while then I put gas in it and the next day it died on me agein. Is the gas cap in the Camaros vented or not? if anybody knows what might be the problem any hints will be helpful.
Parts replaced: carb, fuel pump, gas cap, fuel filter, fuel hoses up front, coil, cap and roter button, spark plugs, spark plug wires.

I can't imagine that removing the gas cap would help in any way. By running without the cap the tank will never hold pressure which it needs to do if I'm not mistaken. Have you checked your fuel pressure at idle and at WOT?

Some LG4 powered Camaros have an electric helper pump in the tank, which GM placed there due to certain vapour lock problems they were having. It could be the helper pump is weak or kaput.

Just replaced the pump two days ago. Had to replace the sending unit as well. $500.00 for a bunch of pipes and three wires, oh well. so thanks for all the info I would have never known the pump was in the tank without your input. So Thanks alot everbody
