Flat/dead spot above about 3000 RPM's...help!
Ok here's the scoop. I just recently replaced my '87 LG4 with a roller cammed 350. Has a cam of about .5/.5 lifts and pretty good duration (cant remember exactly). Anyhow, I threw everything over from the 305 (carb, headers, dist, still running computer). Ive got alot of the issues worked out (save the really bad exhaust leak I still have at the collector on the passenger side).
The car (although somewhat gutless on off the line, can hardly turn the tires over but im sure its just a matter of finding better timing) pulls hard all the way through mid throttle till around 3K or so then just sort of dies off. I know this cam should have a longer power band than this. Does anyone think that I'm not getting enough fuel through the secondaries? Just have the stock 305 LG4 rods/hanger in there now.
Also, when I threw on a timing gun, I noticed I only get (guessing) maybe 15-20 degrees of total timing advance. Could this be caused by the exhaust leak which happens to be, what, about a foot behind the KS?
Who thinks it could be a combination of both? Any other ideas appreciated also.
Thanks,
Ben

Oh ya, and I still need to check on whether I'm even running in open loop or not, since I had the O2 sensor welded into the collector recently. If not, I'm sure thats not helping, so Im not going to totally rule that out yet. Maybe the combination of all three things?
