Timing Cover question

I've been searching for a timing chain cover for my 383 that is gonna be here next week but can't seem to find any that list "Roller cam" for an application. I was under the impresssion from somewhere that they were different between the older flat tappet cams and roller cams. Any body know for sure if I've been mislead somewhere along the line. And while I'm at it, if you have any recomendations on any, feel free to let me know...Bugdet $100

They are the same. There is no special "roller" application. Thank goodness, at least that's one feature they didn't re-invent the wheel into a traingle when they "invented" rollers.

The roller cam has a thrust plate in the front to control cam walk, so the cover doesn't even need to hold the cam back.

Ok, for example, why is this cover list to NOT fit 87-later engines?

To bad you dont live in Phoenix, the local speed shop has an identicla cover to that Edelbrock unit with no name on it for 35$. Be prepared to play games with a timing pointer. If you are externally balanced with an 8inch balancer, from my experience the biller pointers did not work out with the beefy timing cover, pissed me off. I ended up with a POS 7$ stamped pointer that I had to bend to work right. Oh well good luck.

I don't know... but it's not stock, so any number of things could be different; I'd suspect it's too shallow inside, where it's designed to have a short "retrofit" thrust button behind it. Stock ones interchange.

I bought the black powder coated one from GMPP. It has red "chevrolet" across the top. It works fine since you can't really see it anyway once the engine has everything installed on it. I say save your money and not buy a billet aluminum one, get chrome if you are itching for shinny...
