? about 96 z24 tune up

Do they have a timing belt or cahain? it has the 2.4 motor, do they have a dist? or does each cylinder have it's own coil? If it has it's own coil I just need to change plug's and wires's right? There is no cap and rotor? There is a caove on top of the motor and I have not taken it off to look I was just wondering if anyone new. Thanks

Transmission: sure does
If that is the quad 4, (I can't remember right now ), then it is a chain.

The cover down the middle of the valve cover is a coil pack assembly. This has 4 coils, no wires, that are bolted to the module, which is bolted to the cover.

This whole assembly comes off all in one peice. Don't forget to unplug the connector at the drivers side of the cover.

Tune up consists of plugs and filters....maybe clean out the throttle body...oil change...

As a GM dealership tec, I would definitely suggest replacing the plugs with GM platinum plugs, just like what is in it. If not you will have driveability probs. Also look at your coil tower if there is any black streaking on it,I would definitely replace it.

In a 96 they have a chain I wonder why they don't have a belt? The 2.3 have belt's right?
The 2.4 is a diffrent motor the 2.3 use plug wires and I guess the 2.4 does not.

a 97 RS cavalier is not a 2.3. it is a 2.2. the 2.4 replaced the 2.3. 2.3 is the size the quad 4 was. 2.4 is it's replacement and is now just called twin cam.
