Smog and A/C delete on S-Belt without using Delete pulleys, is it possible?

Can't find any threads about doing it this way, every thread talks about using delete pulleys.

btw, this is on an 88 Formula.

i think i saw a pic here a while ago from someone who did it. the belt was routed so the ribbed part would ride against the tensioner.
