oil sender is left of the distributor, or you could tap in to oil passage above oil filter or above and to the right of the timing cover. if you want to use the factory sender location use a 1/8th" tee, nipples, or whatever else you need to plumb the line and factory sender. i'd trash the plastic line and use copper.

Ive been wanting to add a mechanical gauge my self. my car is a 91 with the 305 TBI also.
problem is we do NOT have an oil sender next to the distributer. we have the oil sender/switch combo that is above the oil filter only. so Im at a complete loss as to where to hook a mechanical gauge to. if you figure it out please let me know.

figured it out! i got mine done today.
look in back of the distributor.. now look real close on the block.u are looking got a screw that has a square head on it. u have to move some wires to see it. u need to take it off and put the fitting into it. its a pain but u will be happy when its done. dont forget to seal it when putting in the new fitting. use some teflon tape.

naachoo thanx for the info
I think I found the right spot. its a small square headed bolt on a little edge of the block just behind the intake and to the right of the distributor(when looking at the engine from the front).

BTW how did you run the tubing for it into the interior of car?

just drill a hole through. but u need to protect the tubing where it comes though the fire wall or u will get oil into your car after time.
