After revving, nearly choked

Well to start, heres my story. I went to look at my car and ponder today (aka every day :hail: ) and I decided to let it run a minute, since I know a carbureator is a B**ch. Well I forgot my keys, so I put my cover back on it (I just washed the livin hell out . I got my keys, and uncovered her, and got in. I turned it on, doing the normal startup (clutch to floor, foot goes off brake, check to be sure in 1st, and pump gas while turning key. Well after a few pumps, she started, like the norm. I let it idle a bit, for a second and it seemed fine, choke engaged idling about 2000 RPM I think (close to that.) I give it a rev, disengaged choke, and she fell back to 1000 RPM. I give it some gas, get it up to 2500, let off back to idle, rev to about 3000, let it idle, get it to 2500, then revved to 3500, then all the way to ALMOST 4000. Letting off the gas completely, I watched the RPM gauge act liek it was going back to idle speed, aka 1000RPM. Well, it didn't stop there, it hit 500 RPM, and I could feel it starting to shake. She was going to choke. Well, I decided, lets see what happens. It idled about 3-5 seconds and 500, then returned to 1000RPM. The car never moved, had the non workin e-brake up, clutch in and gasin her. I just started her up for a couple minutes to let it run. Is this normal for it to dip to 500RPM? There was no other sound, just the idle and the regular engine sound.
