whats with my fuel pump

I just installed a holley mech. fuel pump, its the one that doesnt require a regulator. Anyways, today I finally started my new engine setup, speed demon 750, air gap intake, msd pro billet, ect. And I noticed that the gauge on the carb line kit was only reading about 3 psi at idle, Is this right? even revving the engine a little and it stays right there. I can actually see that the clear fuel filter doesnt even completely fill up when its running. Any ideas???

3 PSIG should be fine. Having a little air in the clear filter body (or any filter body, for that matter) is also fine. I've had them run for years that way. If it really bothers you, you can orient the filter so it is mounted vertically and all air is dispelled, but it won't make a lot of difference.
