what do you think

Hey guys,

Do your Irocs launch hard off the 16 tires? Will it turn them over without a problem?
I run 245/50/16's and the car seems to really grip with them. I have a hell of a time turning them over, where as with 60/15 I can burn them with no problems. I don't have sub-frame connectors and it almost feels like a can feel the flex in the frame the car launches so hard. I broke a tranny mount once, and the mechanic said it might have been because of this. I replaced it with a stock rubber piece(federal mogul)not a poly unit(stupid me)The car is a carbed 350, with a t5 manual tranny. Even when I get the tires spinning off of dirt, they just screem when they hit the pavement and bite right away. This is not necasarily a bad thing just wondering what you guys think.

the grip, or lack of it depends alot on the surface you're on and how sticky your tires are. my l98 iroc would break the tires loose pretty easy. the 355 i built for my son will fry his tires, but after they're hot they hook up real good.

CM,

The stiffer sidewalls of the 6-ply 50-series tires help hold the tread firmly against the pavement. This not only helps with steering, but accelleration and braking as well.

The extra two plies in the tread are of the carcass also contribute to the stiffness and improved contact.

Despite all these advantages, many of us have a hard time geting more than 20,000 miles out of rear tires - must be softer rubber?
