when I floor it, it doesnt go for a second...

I'll be cruisin around & decide to floor it for whatever reason and its will not respond for a second before it kicks in.

I replaced the fuel filter less than a month ago.

Any ideas on what this is and/or solutions to the problem would be appreciated. THX

Look for a tech article about qjet tuning for performance. Sounds like your bogging in the secondaries.

Is performance good once it gets going?

Hmmmm, an 84 L69 with an auto dosn't sound right. Im probably wrong but i thought they all came with sticks. Oh well whatever.

That article should fix your problem.

Well, according to the VIN, its an L69, plus all the High Output emblems are a pretty good giveaway.

And I just checked again to be sure, yeah... it is indeed an automatic. Almost thought it might not have been, but it is.

Hmmm... seocondaries.. probably it.

Yeah i just thought i heard somewhere that all 84 L69's were sticks.

A problem i once had on my 86 LG4 with the q-jet was that the secondary air flaps were rubbing on the back lip of the carb. Had to file it down a bit. They should open with just a little force from your finger.

Good luck.

'83, '85 and '86 L69's were only offered with the 5-speed manual. For some reason, 1984 was the only year they offered both the 4-speed automatic and the manual 5-speed with the L69. I guess that makes the 1984 L69 with the 4-speed automatic pretty rare.

'84 Z28 w/ T-tops, 420HP Stroked 383, Trick Flow aluminum heads, Tremec 5 speed, 3.73 posi rear, Edelbrock 750 cfm carb, Dual Snorkel air cleaner w/ K&N filter, Edelbrock headers & 3" exhaust, Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace, Hotchkis LCA's and Panhard Rod, there is much suspension work to come.
