I have an '85 Z28 with a TPI 305. I've got fuel pressure and the engine cranks but it isn't getting any spark. I did the old screwdriver-in-the-sparkplug-wire trick to test for spark and got nothing. I checked the cap and rotor and both appeared to be in good shape. I grounded the A & B ports on the diagnostic port to check for codes and something strange happened. The fan should have come on, but didn't. Also, the IAC was making a humming sound and I could feel it vibrating when I touched it. What is going on here? This is driving me crazy!!!

When you grounded the diagnostic terminal on the ALDL, did the MIL lamp flash like it is supposed to?

Yeah, code 12 flashed, but the fan didn't come on like it usually does. I'm outta ideas...
