help!!!!

my car put me on the side of the road friday...at the time i thought it was the fuel pump, when i got it towed home, the fuel pump will prime everytime, so i came to beleive that it might be the fuel filter. i changed it today, but it wont crank. the fuel pump primes everytime I turn ignition into the on position. any ideas to get it to crank, or might there be anything else causing the problem????any help is appreciated.

well if it won't crank, it might be the starter, fusible links, bad alternator that drained the battery and your battery is dead.

could be a ton of things, what are some other things that happened?

then i ask if you are getting spark? take a plug wire over n stick a screw driver n ground the driver somewhere (be careful, u can get shocked) If not, check the battery connection to the distrib... cap, if that comes loose/off, thats all it will do is turn over and that surely will cause a stall.

How about the fuses? have you checked those? what engine does it have?

i may have been a lil cheap, did u turn the car over while the screw driver was inside the plug wire? once the firing order hits that plug, you'll know if u got spark. if you did that and nothing, then check for again, the plug that provides battery to the distribuator, if that fell off n made contact with the intake, it could have melted, but you should have two plugs going into the cap, one for the tach, the other for the power. They are both labled on the cap, do you have an internal or external coil?

i'd also check the timing. check for possible codes, do a search at this board on code checking and timing, you'll find all the needed info or ask, always someone here able to help =]

i'm not familiar with fuel injection peroid. I was always holley 4 barrel. But it for sure is an ignition problem if your not getting spark, your just flooding your chambers/plugs with gas if it has no juice to ignite the gas n push the piston back down n fire.

but from what i know to check is resistance across the coil, i "think" it should be within 500-1000 ohms, I could be wrong.

Check the fusible links, alot of the time that is the problem.

Heres another one I just found, should show you how to test the coil. The above link is a complete ignition system check BTW.
