heaat controls missing

i recently got an 84 chev camaro and the entire front panel has been ripped out. the heating wires have been cut out and the heat was left on. very hot!
i don't have a lot of money or knowledge about cars. so rewiring is out of the question.
are there any ways to temporarily keep the heat from entering the passenger area?
someone suggested putting clamps on certain cords, or tubes, or something. but another person said that wouldn't work. (i would need someone to tell me where to put the clamps anyway)
could someone please help me? thanks!

The heat is controlled by a little door that the "temp" slider opens and closes to mix heated and/or unheated air, by way of a cable. All you should have to do to shut off the heat is either push or pull on the cable, whichever way closes the door.

"rewiring" isn't necessary. The entire heat & A?C wiring and vacuum line assembly is just that, an assembly. It is entirely separate from the rest of the car's wiring; it is installed at the factory as one single unit, and can be easily replaced that way. It goes to the control head at one ned, and to the blower motor and all that at the other, all through one grommet through the firewall below the heater hose fittings.

None of this is even a little bit complicated. It's real simple, if you just study a complete car. You can go to the junkyard and get another control head and the wiring harness for probably less than $10, and don't cut anything - leave your dykes at home, and in less than about 2 hours, put your car back exactly like it's supposed to be. That's what I'd suggest doing, rather than hacking it further and just making it worse than it already is.
