Looking for electric Water Pump..

Hi there, I was wondering where I can find an electric water pump for my 305. I figured that since I had the new engine put into the car I might as well go with the water pump. Which is the best brand, and is going to last the longest? That's what I'm looking for info like that. If you want to know details about engine ask, if you think that's going to help figure out which on is going to work the best just let me know and I'll tell ya. If someone can help me out that's going to be great. Until then have a wonderful day!

It's not a daily driver right? Even the best electric water pump is only rated to a certain amount of hours of operation before the motor burns out. When it does, you're SCREWED. Your engine will overheat very quickly without your knowledge til it's probably too late.

BUT if you REALLY want to get one...I hear Mezier (SP?) is a very good make. CSI too. I'm sure they make them for the 305....you could always give Summit or JEGS a call...or try to find their official websites and look it up.

As of right now, yes the car is a daily driver, I do intend to keep it that way, until the body is done.. in the mean time the car runs unusually HOT, and I have a nice ele. fan, but I want something to keep the water going throughout the engine when it's cooling, that's my main goal. Isn't there something out there that's pulley driven and when the car isn't running anymore that's when the h2o pump kicks in until the car is cooled? I think that I was reading something out there like that.. anyway thank you for the info, and correct me if i'm wrong.

Once the car's shut off it shouldnt get too much hotter than it is at the moment you turn it off. No real need to keep water moving through it...it'll just drain your battery. How's your radiator? Sounds like something's wrong if you keep running abnormally hot. Your electric fan COULD be too small for the engine. I had that problem..had a little Bosch 8 blade fan and it could hardly keep my v8 cool. Finally I blew a fuse and it overheated... Replaced it with a flexfan and it runs cold now.

Might consider getting a 4 core radiator...or try flushing what you have now and see if she runs colder. Stock t-stat or replacement? A new lower temp t-stat might be in order...

But I have a friend here that says that flex fans don't cool your engine that good or at all, he says. But I think that I have a flex fan, it's SUPER POWERED!!! I'm telling you. I'll get all the info on what the car has and maybe we can figure what's going on with it. Maybe it's cause the new thremostat is tied into the fan, and just sticks into the fins of the radiator. And I have it set pretty low, to kick on when it reaches 175*, but I think that it's still getting hotter, I'm just not for sure. I need to replace my temp gauge and see where I'm at. All I know is that when I'm driving the car I'm sweating my nuts off, and I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to take it. Is there a thermo that opens up at a cooler temp? And is it going to do me any good with the fan I have got now? And could it be the MSD Ignition I have got in the car that's making it run a bit hotter?

I run a meziere electric water pump on my Formula. There are one or two other guys on the board who run them as well. It is 100% streetable and will not reduce the driveability of your car in any way. My car runs cooler with the mez pump, especially in traffic & idling, than it ever did with the belt driven pump. If you want to cool your engine off at the track between runs, you can run the pump with the engine off.

Nixon, the meziere pumps are rated for 2500 hours I believe. That is a long time. When the pump quits, it will only kill your engine if you never pay attention to your gauges. I've had the pump on my car for over three years. Once, I blew the pump relay. I saw the needle on the temp. gauge climbing higher than usual, so I pulled over and shut off the engine. I opened the hood, jumped the relay (so the pump would be on all the time), drove home and replaced the relay. No harm done.

HEY!!! Thank you for the info, I think that i"m going to put one in sometime within the week... I just hope that I'm not going to run into any problems bolting in on. 3 Yrs huh? Wow, that's a long time. It's never given you any scare just besides that once? About the not paying attention to the gauges... i'm very very religious about that.. must know whats going on all the time with my engine. I have never even came clost to red line on that thing. I think that the highest that i have gotten on the tach was 3500. and I was hauling ***. again thank you for the information. You have been a big help in this matter!

If you're that **** about it then sounds like a good choice for you.

2500 hours huh? Wow... That's about...what...3 1/2 months of continuous operation? Not bad...

msd among others make idiot lights so you wouldn't really have much to worry about if there was a failure in the cooling system and you didn't see the gauge

How do you wire those up anyways? Run them in line with the coolant temp sensor, or do they have an additional, separate connection to whatever it is....

no clue what ur talkin about there.. umm the thermostat shouldnt be anywhere near the radiator.. its in the thermostat housing/water neck on your intake and has nothing to do with the fan kicking on, thats controlled by the fan switch in the passanger side head assuming you have a stock setup and not a hotwired fan or a toggle switch.

I know what he means...he's got an aftermarket fan operated by an adjustable temperature switch... Lol, I had a setup like that originally. It's not the most accurate setup since it's not IN the fluid directly....but it'll generally pick up good enough if it's actually pushed through the radiator fins a bit.
