should i get the 190cc or 195cc afr heads for my mods listed?

i am looking for a pair of heads that will work with the mods on my 1988 iroc z28 350. i am looking for low 13s. my car is driving daily so it needs to idle smooth and i need to pass emissions in ohio. afr salesman recomended the 190cc but is this because he might be overstocked on these heads or do they really fit in with my mods below?

2. will 1.6 instead of 1.5 roller rockers benifit me and will they fit under my factory valve covers?

I've been looking at the AFR heads myself, but I'm swaying towards the 195cc's eventhough I have to pass the extremely strict NJ emissions. I think I'll be ok.

As long as the heads have the provisions for the EGR (which may be an emission requirement in your state), they should not adversely affect emissions. In fact, depending on your cam, they may help AND still give more performance.

Paul, ever heard of Montgomery township? It's right outside of Princeton. Anyways, that's where I'm from. My 305 TBI LO3 is almost dead (burns oil) so I'm doing an engine swap this spring/summer. I'm also looking into some good EGR heads. I heard the trick flows are very good and that edelbrock is an older design. AFR heads are the best hands down, except for the $$$ I'd expect them to be made of gold. Anywho, I'm tyring to find some thirdgen guys to go to english town sometime if you're interested.

Jon,
I live in cnetral Jersey, but I go to school at TCNJ which is right in Ewing. Either direction E-town is only 40 minutes from my house. I would definately be interested in going to the track sometime. I'm guessing my car will be in pieces in the spring, but I would still love to show up and see what some other third genners have. E-mail me at Ricc152@yahoo.com

Careful guys, I doubt the 195's are gonna fit your TPI setups.. I just bought a nice set of AFR 190s myself for my 350 TPI. I asked my salesperson what the difference is in the 195s and 190s. He cautioned me that the 195s won't work because the runners open up too high at the top to match the intake. Now I did not ask him if I could fix that by port matching, because it just seemed like there would not be much material left if I were to start grinding on the base runners to match the intake ports. I bet if you ask the salesperson the difference, he will point this out to you. AFR (818-890-0616)

The only difference between the AFR 190 and 195 heads is that the 195's are made to be used with a Super Victor intake manifold.

If you are NOT running a Super Victor (all TPI guys!) then you need the 190's.

I have a stage 3 ported set of AFR 195's. The top of the port is VERY high. When i bolted my miniram down with the felpro gaskets i could literally see into the heads because the port stuck out the top of where the intake bolted down. The ports are ENORMOUS compared to the small ports on the miniram. I had to go get a 1/8 inch thick huge port felpro gasket and problem solved, no biggie.
