Simple fuel pump question

I'm swapping to a carb this week. Will a mechanical fuel pump work with my current 305 block? How about the tank? Will a sending unit fit? Are the tanks universal so any fuel pump or sending unit will work?

Thanks!

yeah a mechanical pump should work with your block (it'd help if you said what you have). you'd need to get a fuel pump rod and make sure your cam has a cam for the mechanical pump. you can keep your stock sending unit and factory gauge, i think it's the pink wire. if not i believe they're all the same as far as the top of it goes, the tank depths may be differant.

Wonder if you have an in tank pump? I do, I swapped to carb a few weeks ago, I have a 92 RS that was tbi, now carbed. I used the intank pump and lines, put on a fuel regulator.

So what you're saying is that I can leave my old fuel pump and sending unit on the tank and use a mechanical fuel pump? That would be GREAT! I already have a mechanical fuel pump! What would I need to make this work? Just disable the old fuel pump and use the same fuel lines? I have an LB9 and I think my cam is the same as the LG4. Will it make the mech. fuel pump work?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

That what I'm doing if I can't get the mechanical fuel pump to work. What I want to know if it will work if I leave the old electric fuel pump in the tank and just disable it.
