Have to replace fuel pump =/
I took my car in and they said i need to get a new fuel pump. Im not sure which there going to put in, so does anyone have any idea which fuel pump i should buy. Im going to buy a fuel pump my self and then have it installed by my mechanic. I have a 89' Firebird Formula, so if anyone knows which one i should get; something thats not too exp but a good buy with some preformence would be great. Thanks in advace laters

You can't ever go wrong with a real AC/Delco pump, unless your car has tons of modifications to the motor.
I put in a Borg-Warner pump, from Pep Boys, in '97. Wound up changing it again in '99. Fun!
If we're talking a fuel injected motor here (TBI, I'm guessing?), tell your mech not to re-use the old pulsator. It connects to the fuel pump by o-rings which get dried up over time, crack, and cause fuel leaks (and therefore, low pressure). Either buy a new pulsator for $40, or, tell him to use the short piece of high-pressure fuel line that comes with the pump in place of the pulsator.
The pulsator is there, according to the GM shop manual, to quiet the fuel pump. In '97, I didn't know, and re-used the pulsator. In 99, I used the short piece of hose with "fuel injection hose clamps". (Provide more of a 360 degree seal then regular hose clamps, might be a lie for all I know, but what the heck, why not.) I didn't notice the pump to be any louder.
