head work ?

getting ready to start on my heads. Do I want to get the valve job done first and since I am talking about a 305 I'm goona have tha valves opened up to take 1.94 valves, before I do the prot and polish work.

Get them cut for the larger valves first, then p & p; then the final valve job.

You can do it either way.

Port the heads first, then take them in for a valve job etc.
Make the bowl a little smaller than the stock 1.84" valve seats'
lowest cut. This will work out just about right with the new larger 1.94" valve seat.


Or have a shop "bowl hog" and cut new seats for the larger valves and then port them. (Will save you some time.)

They may want to have the new valves in hand first to establish the actual seat location. ( makes a difference)

Some shops will "touch up" a seat or two after for ya if you get carried away and nick a seat while porting.
