oil drip

this is my problem, i have a 89 gta 350 with an oil intercooler,it seems oil is dripping from where the oil filter is at,i have taken the oil filter mounting off and i didn't see anything wrong so put it back in and tightened it up, but it still dripps on me,is there a gasket that is supposed to be there that iam missing or what else could it be?

no gasket on the adapter to block. either the oil filter leaked or sender above oil filter, maybe even a valve cover. you need to start at the bottom and trace backwards till you find a clean spot where there isn't a leak

Yea, mine leaks the same spot. The problem is that everything is so tight it's hard to locate the leak. I go through about a quart a month so I don't worry about it.

as i said before, i have an intercooler,so where you put the oilfilter is on the oil cooler fitting, the filter doesn't tighten up on the block,it's like an adapter for the oil filter and to hoses go right next to it, now this adapter tightens up to the block and then you tighten up the oil filter to the adapter, i toookit off but i didn't see anything wrong with it, so i tightened everything back up but it now dripps little spotts of oil,and i can't figure out if there is a crack or a gasket that fell and i didn't see it,i guess i'll keep lookin at it some more until i can figure it out, thanks guys,GM Hombre.
