reinstalled dist, including gasket, rotor, cap and plug wires onto car. started it, it fired up but was a lil hesitant, drove it and something seemed off, power was almost all there(didnt really wanna test it to the limit) but something seemed off, also the idle was searching a bit. stopped car, and popped hood to check wires. Headers seemed HOT, very hot for a car that was on for a minute mostly at idle. valve covers, intake, radiator were all still only warm to the touch.

I really dont know what to make of this, i thought high exhaust temp were due to lean conditions? i dunno, any insight is appreciated =).

 

Kinda stupid, but have you checked timing ? Would almost be mandatory even if you did mark it...

yes it really goes without saying you need to reset the timing with a light

 

ok good stuff, seemed the most obvious, now i gotta go grab me a timin light, will post some results
