Help Me!!

I guess this is where to post this if not sorry. Every time I come to a stop my oil guage dropes to ZERO. and the Choke Light Comes on. When I tap the gas every thing goes back to normal. I do have plenty of oil in the engine. I have a 87 Camaro with the LG4. Also my Fuel guage quit working, just points straight up. and my trip od. also stopped working. anybody else have this something similer to this. Thanks.

I would not drive the car until you figure out wether the oil pressure problem is a guage/wire problem, or the car actually not getting oil.

Look under the hood, and the dash look for loose,or corroded wires. Check all your grounds really well. How far do the RPMS drop when you come to a stop like that?

Also your alternator/battery what kind of shape are they in?

it is geting oil. and the guage reads normaly while driving just when I come to a stop. and the RPMS are 500. The alternator and battery are only a year old and work fine.

Are you for sure you have oil pressure at idle? its just your guage? If so that narrows it down. I know I had a problem in my old dodge, was a blocked passage or a weak oil pump at idle, it wouldn't pump any oil at all. after idle no rpblem I was just worried you wern't gettting oil at idle.

i have the exact same problem, 87 trans am, 305 carb. RPM drops sometimes almost to 100 and same for the oil pressure, all the way down, then pop back on the gas and goes back to normal until next time i stop ( providing i stop desently fast that is.) it actualy stall on me twice ( in like 4months) i still haven't had the chance to have a look at it. but if I can figure out anything i'll let you know, and please, post it if you figure out the problem before I do, i sure would like to know what's up with that.

choke light means you have a charging problem, check the belt and alternator out put. oil preasure should drop at idle, but not to zero. first thing i'd do is by pass all the factory stuff and screw a mechanical gauge directly into the block and see what you really have. may turn out to be a problem with the sender or fatory gauge

I checked the Battery and Alt. both good. puting out 14v. I took off the Oil sending unit wire and started the engine and the guage pointed stright up. pluged it back in and it read normaly so I guess that means the sending unit is good. How does the Choke light mean that there is a charging problem? I think I have a problem with the whole guage cluster. Last night my right turn signal wasn't working (The light in the dash) but this morning it worked fine. Also my fuel guage is not working and the trip Od. is not working.
