Wiring NIGHTMARE!!
Ok i need some help.
As i posted eariler, i swaped engines this past weeked, i had hoped to finish sunday, but you all know how things go....
either way. when i started to take apart all the crap for the old motor (CC carb, CC Distrubter, emissions control.) i didn't mark where anything went back together.
i did get the new motor (350HO) to fire and run for awhile, until the charging system died. im about 98% sure the alternator is fine. either way.... after running it for about 20 min. the motor died, and the battery(pretty new) is pretty much dead with it. i tried to charge my car with another truck, but the volt gauge never moved. so all i can think of is that one of loose connections that i unplugged needs to be plugged in to complete the charging system.
the only things currently plugged in inside the engine bay, are the ECM power plug( comes straight from the + battery cable, the starter, the distrubter, the water temp sensor, and the oil pressure sender, and the alternator.
so i took some pictures of all the loose plugs, and maybe someone can point out the loose end i am missing.
i desperatly need to get this car back on the road(daily driver) and it is hard to drive without a charging system.
as far as grounds go, the one straight from the - battery terminal is connected where it should be (the alternator bracket), the other little ground off the - battery terminal to the frame, and one other ground from the firewall cowl area that bolts to the back of the motor.
now there is another loose ground that from the frame, on the passenger side of the engine bay that i believe goes to the motor, but i don't see how that would be connecting the charging system.
either way, here are the pics, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
btw, its a '82 Z28 manual (4spd) prevously LG4 w/ CC carb, now 350HO with non CC carb (edelbrock 750) and non cc HEI.

most of the plugs are for sensers, you have carb and non ecm controled hei right? if so you won't need most of them ,also won't need the ecm. looks liek one is a vacuum line, the wires with ring ends are grounds so bolt them to a good ground location

I'm going to take off of work at about 3 to see if i can troubleshoot it. i think because i have 2 loose grounds, and one of them is an engine ground.... that very well might be the problem... ( i hope.)
one the bright side of things, the engine sounded really good with just shorties and a y-pipe while it ran.

1 st photo is ground strap, goes rear of head to fire wall
2nd not sure. oh looks like hood light the loop is the ground on the hood.
3rd ? no circle but lost of wires lol
4th wire with loop is same point as number 1 ground strap other connector no idea
5th multi wire looks like egr sylenoid, which i don';t think you have anymore with carb. i could be wrong. whats the other looks like vac hose.
no idea.
the last photo that two plug is a/c and the 3 plug goes to the 3 plug in previous photo. hooks together by dist.
