my 16" electric radiator fan has ceased , can someone suggest a specific replacement to effective cooling ,Im in new zealand and parts are like rocking horse s..?, to find,

if you're sure it's the fan and i couldn't find a gm replacement i'd look arounf junk yards for a replacement motor from another gm car. if that doesn't work try another eletric fan. lot or add on trans coolers and aftermarket fans use a sort of zip tie to hold then in palce. hard to say for you since i have no idea what's avaiable to you. good luck

http://www.usgmserviceparts.com (pontiworld) has replacement fan motors in their online catalogue. They're south of Sydney, so quicker than US. Or, depending on what is wrong with the fan motor, you could try replacing the carbon brushes with new ones - I got some about the right size for an alternator from an auto electrician and cut/shaved them down to size and soldered them in. Fixed my fan for about $6 and an hour or so.
