Fuel Pump

I have an 88 Iroc 305 TPI. I drove to university of washington today and watched the Huskies get stomped by Navada but when i can back my car wouldn't stop. I don't here the pump whining and when i pushed in on the shrader valve on the fuel rail there was nothin. It has a full tank of gas in it (go figure) I have been experiencing hard starts so I replaced the pump relay, didn't help. I bought the car in april or may and was told the car sat for a year. (no gas in the tank when i picked it up) Sound like a fuel pump? HELP PLEASE

yes, but you should check presure and volumn before spending the money, time, and effort to replace it

Mine sat for 5 years with about 5 gallons in it....RUST!!! The sending unit rusted into about 4 pieces. If you test the fuel pump and it seems to still be alive, the sending unit may be the problem.

ede, what's the point in pressure and volume checking it if there's nothing at the scrader valve? I was told by my friend's dad the ignition modual goes out that it won't allow the fuel pump to turn on. Is that true?
