more hp!

Hi guys,

Ihave an 85 TA with 305 155 hp(engine code H). Want to add some more hp without an engine swap. I am still going to drive almost daily(in summertime) so I dont want anything extreme. 200+ hp would be nice. What parts should I go for, and in what order? I have a limited budget and must do this step by step so to speak. In what cases must I get a new custom computerchip and where can I get it? I live in Sweden so I wont be able to bring the car.
excuse my bad english
Grateful for suggestions.

my 85 t/a came 215hp stock.
i guess you can look for some of those model heads (not sure which #), cam, headers.
tpi?
descreen the maf, tb coolant bypass, little bit of porting, take out the ac and smog pump...that should net you 30-40hp easy.

how's he going to descreen a maf and do a t.b. bypass on a carbed engine? i'd look into the basics, but to get over 200hp, you might as well buy a cam to start with. other than that, headers, intake, catback, carb work, timing change, 160 thermostat, etc. good places to start.

Exhaust first, all the way form the heads to the street. Get a chassis-specific system (not a "universal" one) for one of these cars, but NOT for a LG4 car; get one for something like a 88 350 TPI Camaro.

After that, a cam.

After that, better rear end gears, such as 3.42s. Sometimes things other than the engine itself will make a car slow.

i was going to mention the gear part also along with shift kit and converter, but thinking it may be a bit much to go into at once. :lala:

RB has you on the right track. (Steve, that wasn't much help - he specifically said he didn't want to go that route, and his goals don't require it).

Only thing I'd add to RB's suggestions is air cleaner. That single inlet thing is a power killer. Just putting a dual-snorkel and exhaust upgrades per RB's suggestions will make a substantial difference. Oh, the carb secondaries need tuning with rods & hanger.

You don't need to do anything to the chip.

The combination in my signature translates to about 250 rear wheel HP.
