Mods for 91 Firebird 305 TBI

I have a 1991 Firebird with a 305 TBI engine. It's all stock, except for an aftermarket muffler and pipes, and a K&N air filter. What mods would anyone suggest I start with? I don't have tons of money, so I can't go crazy, but I'm hoping within the next year, I can get several nice things done. It was also in a wreck in the rear and was pushed into a car in front of it, and most of the body panels were damaged. Would fiberglass be something I should look into? Also, if I put an open element air filter on it, would the ASCD ram air hood allow air straight into the filter, or does it feed around to the side? Thanks for any suggestions.

My friend has a 89 Camaro with the same engine. Any different suggestions for him? Thanks.

Kevin

Welcome to the board!!!!! Get the body straight and pretty before anything else. I think all would agree on that "mod" first.

I would go to the TBI board and ask the guys there. Pablo, 91bird305, snflupigus, and alot of other guys have done alot of mods to their TBI cars and know what they are talking about.
good luck

As for the Ram Air, if you can find an 82-84 T/A hood and the air cleaner to go with it, that woould be a good way to go. The Formula cars had the same hood, but it was closed off and had no motorized inlet valve. the TBI cars are really choked by the exhaust. Anything you can dpo will help, preferably a full 3" system and headers.

There are so many things you can do that are fairly inexpensive and will give great results. Headers, cold air set-up, gears, poly bushings all round, etc.., these will all give you noticeable results and give you the car your working towards. Read all the tech articles they really help a lot. Oh, and don't listen to chevyBOY. When you fly past him he wont know if the sheet metal was fixed or not. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Any more suggestions would be great. Any specific mods/parts and where I can get them cheapest? What about replacing the body panels? Should I check out some fiberglass panels? I mean, the car's pretty damn heavy, I know it could spare the weight.
