guide plate removal
I'm thinking about buying some heads from a guy in my area. I just bought comp cams magnum roller rockers and they're self aligning and they cost a lot of money. the heads I'm looking at are screw in studs with guide plates, would it be difficult for me to take the guideplates off? or would it be better to sell my rockers and buy a new matching set? the ones I have right now have approx 5 miles on them (I broke a stud on my current heads). Thanks.

No, it's very easy. Unscrew the studs, lift off the plates, put the studs back. Although, you may find that you'll need some washers onder the heads of teh studs, sometimes they either hit the outside of the intake ports, or go down into them.
Personally I prefer guide plates out of all the possible methods of rocker alignment; but the self-aligning system works fine, so I;d suggest using it if you already have the parts.
